Wilbur's Zebra

Correct, sir! Yes, went there to check it out, once. But far too many years after Wilbur's for any hope of finding a chip beside the railroad along Sierra Highway. Sierra is Historic U.S. Route 6, which crosses the continent and reminds me of my youth in New York state where we had it, too. But some thrifty Congressman saw no need to expend Federal funds to maintain a dual highway (U.S. 395 and Calif. 14) so Route 6 now ends in the middle of Bishop. A jarring finale, I'm sure, for transcontinental travelers. (But if you go west just about a mile from the end of 6, you'll be at the Paiute Palace.)
