About the New Bahamian Club

The Bahamian Club was one of two old time licensed casinos in the Bahamas. The other one was the Cat Cay Club. These were members only establishments that were only open to tourists in the winter seasons. When the Mob was kicked out of Cuba by the Castro revolution, they first went to the Bahamas. They made an offer that couldn't be refused and the Bahamian Club became the New Bahamian Club, which issued these great looking chips. The right palms were greased and the gaming license was transferred to the failing Paradise Island Resort previously owned by millionaire Huntington Hartford and now owned by the Mary Carter Paint Company - who also opened Resorts International in Atlantic City. The mob even had the Bahamian government build a bridge from Nassau to Paradise Island for easier access. The mob's next casino in the Bahamas was El Casino on Grand Bahama island.
