Steve...

For most of my life I have had the collecting bug. Collecting casino items (mainly chips) has unleashed a new side of me in the past few years. I really enjoy the history of these places. The research is fun, but can be frustrating at times. There are many, many card clubs in Solano County( California and U.S. too) that need the dust brushed off and brought back to light. Some are forgotten and my never be "re-known".

The little Main Street of Suisun had at least 4 card rooms going on at one time and as many as 8 in its history. I'm still sorting out what is and old wives tell and fact. (If Suisun City would allow me to open up a 2 table card room I would look into it.) It's just part of their history...they should have one.(again)

I have been looking into a few other local places that had gambling in our area. I did a job for a guy who dealt card at the Sparlke Club(Fairfield) in the 50's and played poker at Miss Bea's Mint (Suisun). He said he never played at the Elmo Club(Suisun) because they had too many shills and you couldn't win. I have talked with relatives from all these places. Most just want the history to be left alone it seems. They have info, but they just don't give it out readily. I'll keep digging.
It has been a pleasure knowing you during this journey. There are many great people in this hobby and you rise to the top. You have always been more than fair to me...I appreciate that.

There are only a handful of chippers that are trying to produce the history of our "artifacts". I think that all chippers that have local gaming history should look into their area. There are many resources on line and at local libraries. There are many clubs listed without an address. Go look at a local directory and supply the info. It make me wonder sometime when I see a club's Name listed and a city, but no address or chips. It's almost like it doesn't exist. It is time consuming and frusterating at times, but it is great entertainment and almost free to do. (Unless to subscribe to a site you pay for)
