I can confirm that the decline in membership over the past ten years has been quite substantial...yes, dire. And maybe that's okay for some, but it does not bode well for the longevity of the club. Many of our club members belong just for the magazine that they receive every quarter; if membership continues to decline, at some point we won't be able to get the magazine printed for a cost-effective price because we won't meet minimum run quantities. So what do we do -- raise membership rates (which will cause us to lose more members) or stop printing four magazines annually (which will cause us to lose members) or just publish the magazine on-line (which will cause us to lose members). And going forward, how does that affect our convention with fewer members & fewer participants? Yes, it's nice to belong to this small, intimate club, but if we don't make the effort to help it expand, it just won't last. That's one of the reasons that I applaud the BoD's idea about a name change to one without "club" in it. An association has broader appeal & sounds less Mom & Pop-ish than "club". I like Casino Collectibles Association -- I think that it's at least a good place to start the growth process.
