Jim, you make an excellent point that much auction material are lots that people already have. But, where are all the "new" collectors who certainly would not already have those same chips? The CC>CC quarterly magazine always lists names of new members added since the last printing, so we need to "reach" those people. In today's age, most of them likely have a home computer yet we rarely see new names involved in Greg's board, nor the Prodigy board.
I haven't seen the new member package that Jim Steffner sends out to a new
member, but if not already included, maybe a sheet should be included in that package to give new members the URL addresses of these locations, in an attempt to convince them to join in.
As far as the big October auction, I have 5 lots entered, only one of the five is from either AC or Las Vegas as I purposely tried to list chips that might not already be in everyone's collection. And still, only one of my lots has a bid posted at this point, and the minimums are very fair. Maybe everyone's saving their bidding for the final 3 nights of the auction.
