"how long are we going to subjected to posts every time someone puts a chip on his auction? I know I can scroll by, but I still have to read the title & it takes up space that could be used by useful information & dialog."
At the time I'm posting this note, 5 posts are pointers to specific chips up for auction. I think I remember reading that there are over 500 listings already, so I don't think the Mills are are cluttering this BB with information that isn't useful.
"E-Bay is, and always will be the premier site for buying & selling casino chips online. Lots of other sites have tried to horn in on their success (such as Yahoo) & failed."
Not a valid comparison. Yahoo and Amazon have and still are trying to, as you put it, "horn in' on eBay's success, but not in a specialty field like Jackpot. ....where was eBay's table at the convention? Jackpot had one!
"This guy is swimming upstream."
....and doing it right! Letting people contact each other without going through the eBay screening process concerning emails. 25 cents to list an item no matter what the minimum. Focused on a single area of buying and selling without trying to fashion the costs involved to those participating at the same levels as eBay, setting those costs low enough to be an added attraction to using this site instead of eBay.
"If I knew the guy was a club member, I could at least be a little more tolerant (as I have been of SKIP's incessant hyping)."
It's Dan Mills, a CCGTCC member and his wife Tammi (sp?). I'd like to know who the other two people involved in this project are, but that's really their business, not mine.
I think they've come up with a very good idea, are getting it right at the beginning, and I hope that they have success in this venture.
