Are you importing Epson from Photoshop?
I find that's the best method for scanning and saving the image.

When saving your scan you can raise the resolution by adjusting the "Quality" level after clicking File and scrolling to "Save for Web...":

By raising the level, more bytes are added, taking your image longer to load on the web.

I only use "Save for Web..." for posting images on the web.
I save chip images at 300 dpi for my personal files.
