Cruise ships have water-proof vaults, and that's where the cash is kept along with store chips by the box. I have never seen the inside of one, but I have asked the casino manager about having chips, and he said "we have boxes full of new chips in the vault and I will get you one." And, the cruise industry uses generic roulette chips. Was told the reason being, most cruisers play roulette, and were taking the cruise line branded ones as souvenirs.
