Today in 1789, 28 representatives from 6 Indian nations signed a treaty with the
United States government (in the person of Gen. Arthur St. Claire) which guaranteed
their land, hunting and trading rights in the Northwest Territories.
History indicates that this agreement (like nearly every other historical treaty between
the U.S. and Native Americans) was quite literally not worth the paper it was printed on.
I found a few pretty cool chips featuring images of Native Americans… please post some
of your favorites – any location, any denomination – thanks for looking and participating!
