No, after new owners came in, the brass Lunar New Year chips were discontinued. Few people actually played with them, they were used as good-luck charms and were deemed too expensive for continued release. I thought perhaps the casino would issue somewhat-ordinary New Year chips (like maybe some made by Chipco or Paulson), but no.
For a long litany of complaints, see this thread. The specific statements of which I cannot vouch for, but I know some longtime employees of Hollywood Park were given the ax.
I don't really know what the griping is about. There were cutbacks but the decks of cards still have 52. Right?
PS: The horses at the track didn't make out much better. Last time I saw them, they were at the butcher shop, marked down.
