Before being merged with Caesars Inn to form the larger Harvey's Inn, there was a historic building along the west side of U.S. Highway 50 that in the 1940s housed the Sky Harbor airport & casino. It offered the only landing strip on the south shore, where pilots could park their plane and walk into the casino (or walk across the highway to the Tahoe Village casino).
Today, the former site of the Sky Harbor airport & casino is occupied by the north end of the Lakeside Inn, and the former parking area for airplanes is the Lakeside Inn's north parking lot.
