Torrey, My Catalina story

We took our kids to Catalina for a summer one week vacation in the 70's & 80's. Rented a small house a block from the beach in Avalon. Always, took the steamer, and we would throw coins to you. Later the wife and I would take the old sea plane from Long Beach to Avalon, that was a fun ride. We would rent a boat a dive for abalone, great eating, then they became very scarce, had to go to back side and get em with waves crashing hard against the rocks. Now all fished out and on endangered list. My son-in-law and grandson have a fishing boat in the Dana Point, Ca. harbor, this past fishing season best in 10-15 years, they often go to Catalina and San Clemente Island to catch tuna, and a few dorado. Now they go for lobster my favorite. I went to a great old guy Barber in Avalon, he had pictures of famous Baseball players from the Cubs spring training and other famous people great guy, cut hair for 50yearas till he was in 90's, I bet you know who I'm talking about. I always wished the fantastic Casino was a real Casino, still a fantastic history, during the big band era, famous summer dances, with best bands, bet you know a lot of the history. Memories are so great to recall, thanks for post..
