Etta Whitney named the town Avalon after a poem, Idyllis of a King, meaning, Island of apples.Wrigley who owned the Chicago Cubs had them practice here and had homes for them near the Wrigley field here in Avalon.I don't think the Avalon in Emeryville had anything to do with Catalina.I wish it did because I have a large collection from the Avalon in Emeryville and that would be awesome.There was a club called the Pilgrim Club that I wish I could find pictures of the chips or any Islander that remembers.I have a picture of the Club but not the chips.
