Tuesday night was spent having dinner with Jim Reilly & Paul Sax at the Mirage. We had a nice conversation ranging from Pai Gow chips to playing poker & in between. Later Paul played some live poker as Jim & I played in the No Limit poker tournament.
Wednesday day Jim Kruse & I went over to the Hard Rock to pick up the NCV chip & hooked up with Tyrus Mulkey for lunch.
Wednesday night was the Banquet with Mayor Oscar Goodman as our Guest Speaker. VERY enjoyable, along with having a great table of dinner companions listed below:
Katie Smith
Dick Covington
Bob Hermans
Rich Figarotta
Marri Figarotta
Tyrus Mulkey
Tommy Leggio
Gloria Leggio
Howard Pryor
Thursday day was spent checking out ALL the tables of chips & then heading over to O'Sheas to pick up the 3 chip CC & GTCC set with:
Katie Smith
Tyrus Mulkey
Bob Hermans
Rich Figarotta
Marri Figarotta
Jay Sands
We then headed over to the I.P. for lunch & MORE great stories!
Thursday night was the business meeting which went fairly smoothly & then on to The Orleans & the 3rd Annual CC & GTCC Poker tournament! After two hours of DEAD cards my buddy Tommy Leggio was nice enough to knock me out of the tournament. The funny part was he had put a bounty on me earlier in the day & ended up winning that bounty himself!
Friday morning I headed over to the Hard Rock to pick up the Tom Petty $5 chip. The line was not anywhere near as long as I thought it would be. Then on to the Four Queens to pick up their "35th Anniversary" $1 chip. Then back to the Tropicana for MORE chipping on the Convention floor. I also decided to make sure Ralph Myers was able to handle his new duties as Membership Officer by becoming a Life Member of the CC & GTCC! He passed with flying colors & as you can see below I am now LM-2471-52!
Friday night was the auction with Jim Kruse & company doing another great job!
This was Wayne & Belinda's last year & they both did a great job the last 3 years making sure the Convention went off as smoothly as possible.
Well, time to get a few hours sleep before I head back up to the Tropicana for the Slabbing Seminar at 8:30 A.M. The ONLY good thing about getting up that early is that I'll be there right when the doors open for the last day of the Convention. It was nice having a comped room for all 4 days of the Convention, but as it turned out I never spent the night there, instead coming home to get things done!
Another GREAT Convention held by a GREAT group of people. Thanks to everyone involved in putting it together! Andy - Las Vegas
