In the 1970s, Sharkey Begovich bought the old Golden Bubble Casino in Gardnerville and turned it into Sharkey's Nugget.

Sharkey Begovich was previously the manager of Dick Chartrand's South Tahoe Nugget.

Today, Sharkey Begovich resides at the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church cemetery in downtown Jackson, California, along with his brother, John C. Begovich (a former California legislator and U.S. Marshal).
