Re: Northern Nevada casino photo of the day

Another example of new life for an old casino building is the old North Lodge at Harrah's Tahoe. In the '70s, before the Harrah's hotel tower was built, there were some two-story motel buildings around a swimming pool on the north side of Harrah's (where the parking garage is now).

To make room for the hotel and parking garage, the old lodge buildings were moved, intact, a mile up the highway to Kahle Drive, where they still stand today as the North Lodge Apartments (located on the strip of land that was the Sky Harbor runway 70 years earlier).

This scene from the 1962 movie "40 Pounds of Trouble" shows Tony Curtis and Suzanne Pleshette at Tahoe-Harrah's with the North Lodge in the background. At right is the North Lodge apartments on Kahle Drive today, still with the same balcony rails.
