A couple of years ago when I went through town on July 4. The groceries were good enough. Hawthorne seemed rather large, compared with other towns along the Highway 95. Hey, you want exciting times, toss a cigarette over the fence at those weird little round quonset hut thingies south of town.

But, yeah, Derek owner of The D down Fremont Street bought the Las Vegas Club property a few months back. Not sure what his plans are, but apparently it won't involve a new casino there. Maybe he'll open a Safeway. They really need one in downtown Las Vegas!
