Andy, I spend an average of $600 a month shipping via UPS. They used to be pretty good settling damage claims. Anymore, they tend to deny every claim, putting the shipper in the position of having to prove that a driver dropped the box rather than it was poorly packed. I had a regional director of claims in my store 8 years ago. He was telling me that double-boxing "SHOULD" be enough. I handed him a double-boxed speaker. It slipped out of his hands, fell at an angle that damaged the content of the box. It bent the frame of a new speaker. He got very red in the face, then had the nuts to suggest that we should TRIPLE box everything that we ship, because double boxing wasn't good enough! I couldn't believe what I was hearing! He said it was our fault (in so many words) that their drivers and loaders mistreated our packages in a manner that we should have known would happen.
It wasn't right then, and still isn't right now.
