Since I only collect Nevada House Chips I have organized my chips as follows:
#1 All current house chips in alphabetical order in notebooks in (20) spacer sheets, in 1" notebooks
#2 All obsolete chips that are no longer on the tables, but the casino is still operating, also in (20) spacer sheets, alphabetical
#3 All obsolete casino chips in alphabetical order. I use (12) spacer sheets, use what ever your fancy

I have found this system for me to be very manageable and easy to access. The secret is also to leave space in all notebooks for
new chips and chips that change status from current to obsolete then to obsolete casino. I am able to find any Nevada chip that I collect in less then a minute. Have 5,000 chips in my collection.
