Best way to catalog chips?

Aloha,

Groveling apologies for asking a question I'm sure has been discussed previously ad nauseum.

I figured I really ought to get serious about cataloging my chips, but the prospect of going through 1000's of chips and scanning and documenting is daunting. Wondering how others go about this process? Obviously a spreadsheet seems pretty easy, but is a database more functional (easily store scans)? Anyone already have a spreadsheet format or DB schema that I could use? What key info should I be documenting? Using chipguide as a model and extending a bit, I'm thinking key fields->
Country
State/Province
Casino
Casino Location
Denomination
Issue Date
Color
Inserts
Mold
Inlay
Logo
Other
Notes

Am I missing anything?
