Interesting. I have friends who have taken long Summer rides on their motorcycles, tracing Route 66. There's so much along the old way, sounds like fun.
There's a rest are, might be first one Westbound on I-80 (I don't stop much, it's been years?) That has a little route 66 museum.
66 runs through Joliet, where I have been many times. Winds through town, city streets and that's the part that makes me appreciate the Interstate Highway system. With today's NIBYS and negative progress people, we could never have a nice open road system like IKE encouraged in the 50s.
Here's another one that's being restored and most people have never heard of it. The Yellowstone Trail. It's on the list... "In 1912, a group of small town businessmen in South Dakota undertook an ambitious project to create a useful automobile route, the Yellowstone Trail, across America."
