Phil, My brother passed away 6 yrs. ago, but he was a hermit and lived in Cal-Nev-Ari for 25 years, I used to go visit him 2-3 times a year. We went to Laughlin and played a lot of poker, he gave me 4 sets of chips, I gave my three grandkids a set each, and kept one set. The town has a bar, restaurant, small store, gas station was closed 17 yrs. ago old leaking tanks, and a dirt runway for small planes. (many people fly in to eat) Gen. Patten used to train troops in the area about 1940 and had the dirt runway built. Yes Nancy owns the casino, one of two female owners in Nv. If you don’t know what the casino name means, it is close to Ca. Nv. & Ar. She will not sell any chips now day's.. The 18 slots are run by a route slot Co. She has about 50 mobile home/RV sites rented, and 20 pre- fab homes, 6-8 mobile homes are on the air strip with hangers. Her husband passed away 20 yrs. yrs. ago, and is buried near the end of the runway. was a pilot, found this vacant land flying over and knew water was close to the surface, because this area was green.(ran out of gas) They homesteaded the land about 50 yrs. ago, they worked hard, built up the small town overs the years. She is old now, tried to sell the town 6 yrs. ago, Don Laughlin agreed to buy the town, but the economy went bad and the deal fell thru. She did real good when Hoover dam was closed. While they built the new bridge, all traffic and trucks came down Hwy. 95 from LV to Needles, and they made Hwy 95 into a nice 4 lane Hwy., during construction, she leased land for equipment storage, and sold water from her good wells, construction workers rented space for RV’s, and she sold a mile of land for the widening of the Hwy.
