I remember listening as a kid to my first world series--it was the Cubs with their start 1st baseman and the pitcher that came over mid-season (names that escape my aging mind) and I fell for them - until the next year the Cards came back with their hall of fame line out and I left my first love for them...and then came Fred Saigh who wouldn't give raises to his players (some left to play in a Mexican league) and who sold off others--and tried to sell Stan Musial...then I was left for 18 long years till my Cardinals made it to the WS again.
