I've felt they have worked pretty good in the past. I always put the chip in a flip before sealing the cardboard so the chip isn't touching the sticky glue. And I've never heard of someone breaking a chip by tearing the cardboard open.

Most of the chips I send are freebies anyways (cheap and ugly illegals). If I were sending something valuable I'd do more to secure it.
