I picked these chips up on Wednesday (I think it was Wednesday) last week. I did get to talk with the guy who owned them. (I got them from a 3rd party) The story I got....
They were used by the 2 towns (Vacaville and Dixon) Fire Dept. mostly for Charitable nights starting in the early 50's.They would be used up to 4 times a year during these events to raise money. The public was allowed to play. Of course they were also used by the firemen at other times during the year. Both towns had their own chips and eventually something happened in Vacaville during one of these events (someone became very unhappy with and outcome ..probably drunk...and raised a big commotion) that was the end of Vacaville's F.D.poker events. All of the Vacaville chips ended up going to Dixon F.D.(it was the next town over) they continued their events for another 10 or more years (some of the chips have Vacaville scratched off on Dixon Painted on) eventually Dixon F.D. Gives up on the events and all the chips are taken to the Davis, Ca Moose Lodge #2260.
The chips were used by the Moose Lodge for many years by lodge members. He didn't say when the lodge closed, but said there were 3 guys (him and 2 others) that were dividing things up and taking them home. So all 3 of them ended up with chips. These guys are in their 80's(one has passed).
