1. Richard Staeffler did not usually reveal his sources for how or were he ascertained the information listed in his guide. That he got a few things perhaps wrong is as true for this guide as many others. That he got so much right is perhaps the better assessment. While I currently maintain the guide, I can not provide any information as to what happen before I was left to continue the project. I have, as time permits, made some changes to the format, added new items as they become available, and made corrections as they are pointed out. The guide is only as good as people are willing to provide input.
2. Chinese characters should NOT be treated individually but rather as a group. And they convey, in most cases a thought or an idea as opposed to a concrete statement. Thus, if you ask ten different people the meaning of a Chinese phrases, do not be surprised if you come away with more than one answer, and they might all be correct. As an example, many places were gambling is legal have the word "Casino" in the name, but not all of them are related to each other then that they have gambling inside of them.
