The most important thing to remember is to get a CCD type scanner.
I just got these screen shots from the Epson website. One is the V19 and the other is the V37.
The V19 is a CIS type while the V37 is a CCD type.
Click on the Specifications tab when searching for a scanner.

It's a personal preference what brand you buy.
I believe Epson gives the most bang for the buck.
What model you buy is also a personal preference.
The higher priced models comes with extra equipment to scan slides and film negatives.
