Tokens from an old game?

Found these today at a thrift shop so it wa sa donation if it is a bust. Looks like they are made of a clay composite not wood or some type of early ceramic. They have chips in them and are dark blue and tan. One side has a dimple and the other an indentation to fit on top of one another so you can easily stack them. Can't think of what they can be. I thought some early checkers but there are way too many. Maybe someone has seen these before. Have to know if I should donate back. vbg
