I was driving around running some errands today and saw a sign saying COIN SHOW, with a direction arrow. What, here in my own town?! I've often wondered id there was any overlap between coin-collecting and chip-collecting so I stopped in.
The show was cool, about 30 tables with all sorts of stuff. Of course I had no idea what I was looking at it, but cool it was nonetheless. I asked a couple of the vendors if they were into chips; some said no, some took my name and email. One or two had 1 or 2 unimpressive chips on hand, just as an afterthought. One vendor did happen to have about 50 in a box under the table. We chatted a bit, and I bought a couple (nothing impressive, a couple Hot August Nights from early 2000s). He gave me a good deal and took my email.
I was kicking myself for not being aware of this event, since there might be a diamond in the rough somewhere. Do any of you guys check out coin shows, which I presume are way more common than chip shows?
