Don-What a neat matchbook from Jimmy Young's Silver Club. I worked with Jim in the early 70s at the Union
Plaza and I spent many hours talking with him. He told me about the partition between the Silver Club and the
Golden Camel which was the law-drinking and gambling had to be separated. Actually, he was best known for
his ownership in the Boulder Club but also owned the Monte Carlo and Zanzibar. I sure there were others as well.
He worked as a boxman at the Plaza (I dealt) but the thing he liked to talk about was dealing Faro to Nick the Greek.
He told me many stories about him. Later on he convinced Jackie Gaughan to put a Faro game in the Plaza.
He wanted me to learn to deal it but like a big dummy I turned him down! Jimmy was a real gentleman and was
probably my favorite person in 43 years in the business. He told me he would deal to black people at a time when
nobody else would. Jimmy was a class act for sure. There's a chapter on him in the book "Viva Vegas" (1953).
