Here's my take on this....
I don't think there's a doubt that David is doing a great job on maintaining and running this board. Everyone that frequents this board likes all the communications and are used to structure of this board. Changing this board to something like Chiptalk will certain have a negative effect on long time chipboard viewers(since there's no membership).
But I think what Mike is saying, if the club wants to attract more younger new members, some things can change to make it more attractive and maybe more to the current norm? This is the only board I frequent, mainly to seek chips to buy and sometimes I learn something from one's post.
I always thought this board is part of CC>CC, if this board is not part of the club why is everyone posting with their club #? Also some things here are posted for club members only. It feels like this board is part of the club and for the club members. When I was told, back in the days, if you ask a question or post here you have to use your full name or no one will reply. I'm not a fan of posting with my full name, I try to limit my name on WWW as much as I can, that's just my personal preference.
Maybe a new board is needed to attract new members and have a little more separation from the club, if that's what you want. But getting the seasoned club veterans to visit the new board maybe a challenge.
In Mike's defence, his choice of words may seem harsh and misdirected but the message I got is for the better of the club. That's my 2 cent.
