When I got up this morning I had several emails asking about the situation here.
I thought I’d post this in case someone was wondering about it.
It started with the North Korean soldiers sneaking up to the South Korean side of the DMZ and planting land mines.
They placed three outside a gate where the South soldiers usually come out to examine their side of the DMZ.
Well, two South soldiers got their legs blown off and a third mine was found. It was Made in North Korea.
South Korea began to rebroadcast propaganda aimed at North Korea. It was stopped in 2004 after an agreement.
The North began broadcasting their own propaganda but their speakers are so antiquated you can't understand a word they are saying.
Their speakers are Made in North Korea.
The North is really ticked because the South's broadcasts travel over 10 kilometers and are crystal clear.
I guess the truth really hurts!
North Korea launched a couple of bombs at the speakers location and the South retaliated with 36 shots of their own.
North Korea gave an ultimatum of 48 hours for the South to stop the broadcasts or there will be war.
Ho hum. Zzzzzzz. The North always has a loud bark.
Before the 48 hour deadline they called for a meeting at Panmunjom and that's where we are at now.
I've got to watch the news later today.
This is like watching a Korean drama!
As a side note, I’m not about to leave here.
For one thing, it’s peach season.
You know how you can peel off the paper thin skin and bite into a sweet, juicy peach? You can’t avoid getting its juice all over the place.
Also, its watermelon season; a large, sweet watermelon for $3 US.
Dark, purple grapes? 22 pounds for $10.
Crab season just started, I can’t wait!
