Jerry; Your $80 price for 80 chips is a very reasonable one. But you had questioned catalog prices that nobody paid attention to ... which I compared to automobile sticker prices. True, there are some very desireable chips that sell for well over catalog prices, but not for common chips. Catalog prices, in my opinion, are retail prices that a legitimate chip dealer might charge for his/her inventory as a starting point for negotiation. Collectors who are looking to dump their chips at any price will often sell at huge discounts off catalog (sticker) prices. I am convinced that if a chip cataloger had chip "x" listed in last year's catalog for $50 and reduced the listing to $25 in the current catalog, there would still be those potential buyers who will only offer half catalog. Of course the seller does not have to accept the low ball offer UNLESS he too is looking to dump. Don't blame the catalogers for decisions made between individual buyer and seller private transactions in a volitle changing marketplace.
