These two chips have the "grooved surface" that Bud Jones introduced several years ago to help prevent their very smooth chips from tending to stick together in play.
The manufacturing process didn't always make chips with the same depth grooves. Here are two chips that show that difference. Both chips are essentially unused but the one on the right has deeper grooves. Also, the exposed surface is a slightly lighter shade of pink, and the grooves show the darker color of the center of the chip. Both are dated 1997.
