I have been going through the old Carson City city guides trying to figure out the answers to a few questions. Hopefully, you were able to see the post that I made about the Black Gold casino earlier this year. Today I was digging through the directories and found two interesting notes:
The Little Mint Casino, 314 S. Carson Street first shows up in 1980 and operates as a casino until 1982. In 1984 it is no longer listed as a casino, and shows up as a pawn shop. The owner was Joe Menas. I will find a picture of the ad for display in the future.
Also, the Mint Club operated off and on from 1965 until 1980 at 3449 S. Carson St. In 1973, the city guide shows Joe Pruete as the owner (He is likely half of the Joe and Willie's Mint duo). In 1980 the city guide street section shows the business at the location as the Mint Club. However, there is the following ad in the advertisment section for the same location:
Also, the phone book section has the following listing:
While I have never seen any chips from this casino, I think that there is a couple of new casinos for the chip guide.
More to follow...
Regards,
John
