Like the GOOD Steve B noted, most of the bidding

happens within the last 15 seconds or so. Many of the more expensive chips that I have sold on eBay these past few months have closed with a flurry of bids to get some fairly decent prices. I'm like you in the fact that I like to start my auctions low & see where they go. What I use as to gauge the closing bidding flurry is the number of "watchers" that the item has. When someone places a snipe bid on an item, it is registered as a "watcher". I also don't bid on "Reserve" auctions -- unless the seller does what Sheldon Smith does -- if he puts a reserve on an auction, he notes what the reserve is in the body of the auction. If I were to do a reserve auction on eBay, I'd do the same thing. grin
