So after getting a pretty good response with people interested in participating in a round robin I will be holding one at some point in the not to distant future. I did have a few people contact me that have held these in the past and none of them seemed to be pleased with the way it worked out which scares me a little but I am hoping we can make this round robin a huge success for all people involved. I have had a few suggestions that pictures / scans of chips added and taken should be done by each person involved but I'm really hoping we can get by successfully with out having to do this. For me at least a lot of the fun comes from not knowing what chips your getting back
Doug Smith has been amazingly generous and offered to send approximately 30-40 chips on behalf of the CC>CC to be added to the round robin. His goal is to help provide a better selection of chips and to hopefully help with the success of this fun process. As I have said before, I have a limited about of trader chips so if anyone else has any items they would be willing to donate to the round robin they would be greatly appreciated - just e-mail me if you would like to help and we can figure things out.
Other than that, here are some of the ideas / rules I have come up with. If you have any rules that you think should be implemented or suggestions about how things should be run, please let me know.
1 - All chips put into the round robin need to be in the same or better condition as the ones taken out
2 - All exchanges need to be on a value for value trade - not a 1-1 or 2-2 etc...
3 - Poker chips are my number 1 collectible so if you are to take out any non casino chips (slot cards, cards, ash trays, matches, etc...) they can be replaced with casino chips as long as the value matches up or exceeds the items removed.
4 - Casino chips need to be replaced with casino chips but if you take any fantasy chips, samples, promo chips, etc... they can be exchanged with the same or with casino chips
5 - Since obsolete Nevada chips seem to be the most popular collectible they need to be replaced with other obsolete Nevada chips
6 - Values need to be fair. For example, if you take a chip worth $20 you need to replace it with a chip of equal rarity / value. Do not replace it with 3 or 4 common chips that you think equal the same price as a group.
7 - know the values of the chips you're taking. If you are unsure, look them up or ask other people to make sure you are giving fair compensation.
8 - You are responsible for all shipping costs and getting the package sent to the next participant as quickly as possible. As of right now I am thinking of using a medium flat rate box and I believe it will be around $12-13 to ship. This decision will be made in the near future.
9 - If you are not a club member I may ask for references from others on the chip board to verify credibility
10 - When you receive the box you are more than welcome to add more items to it as long as they will fit in the box. Please don't fill the box with ashtrays or anything like that - stick to poker chips and the like. The more people that add extra to the box the more fun this will be for everybody!
