For those not familiar with the Cal-Neva Lodge, from 1960 to 1963, Frank Sinatra was an owner when it became one of the most famous resorts in the country. It drew fellow Rat Packers such as Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Peter Lawford, and stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio to the resort. Monroe spent her final weekend at Cal-Neva with Sinatra before she died of a drug overdose in Los Angeles in August of 1962. Because of his ties to Sam Giancana at the time, Frank had his gaming license for the Cal-Neva revoked in 1963, ending his ownership in the Lodge.
