This is a good opportunity not only to pick up same memorabilia but also to take a look "behind" the scene. If the Riv will operate the way the Stardust, Sahara and the Frontier did, you have an opportunity to walk around anywhere in the building.
Go behind the cage and see the vault, go down to the count rooms - a place very few non-employees ever see. Go behind the stage in the showroom and see the mechanics and the dressing rooms. Check out the basement areas and the executive offices. About the only place you won't see is security observation room (still in use).
TAKE YOUR CAMERA - get lots of pictures. Have someone take your picture behind the cashier cage. Executive offices are off the elevator in front by the food court. More office areas in basement under convention area by parking garage. If the doors aren't locked go out on the roof and look at the old pool area.
For a real treat don't miss any of the penthouse suites. I don't recall which tower but there is a penthouse suite that is two stories tall, a fab place, unless it went by the wayside in the recent remodel.
Look in desk drawers, check out closets, if a door isn't locked check there too. Sometimes there are hidden or forgotten treasures, old letterhead and envelopes, key chains, paperwork with Riv name, business cards, and who knows what else..
Good luck! and TAKE A CAMERA.
