How Do You get the Brass Ring Off a Silver Strike?

I have a $10 silver strike that the brass around the silver is damaged, whilst the silver in the middle is in perfect shape.

Anyone have any idea what the best way is to remove the brass ring without damaging the silver?

Sharp scissors? wire cutters? File? Saw? Drill?

Help please..

Pipe and a hammer...
use a large wooden dowel on the silver
Who cares if it's for scrap.
