Same thing DOES apply to A.C., Philly, New York, Newark, Boston, or any other city with space limitations for parking in the immediate area of their prime attractions to accomodate their visitors. The resident population of Atlantic City is around 38,000, but millions of visitors come to A.C. each year. I have attended Jersey Devils hockey games in Newark, NJ and have had to park in a lot that was blocks away from the arena. Now I take the train. You mentioned that Vegas does not charge for parking and I opinioned that it was because they keep expanding into the foothills of the surrounding mountains in Las Vegas while A.C. is surrounded by water.
As for politicians with their hands in our pockets that you brought up... yes, sometimes that is true. Several past local officials have deservedly gone to jail for that. But I don't paint ALL of them with the same brush. Some of them do a pretty good job with very little thanks.
