IF YOU EVER GET THE CHANCE TO TOUR CENTRAL NEVADA ... TAKE HIGHWAY 50 ACROSS THE STATE AND ON THE WAY IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE YOU WILL FIND A SMALL MINING TOWN NAMED "AUSTIN". WHEN I RETIRED TO LAS VEGAS AROUND 1990 I BOUGHT AN RV AND SET OUT TO CONQUER NEVADA. WE CAMPED OUT IN AUSTIN AND HAD A FEW COCKTAILS AT THE GOLDEN CLUB SALOON. WE SPENT ALOT OF TIME TALKING TO THE OLD LOCAL BARTENDER / OWNER AND WHAT STORIES HE HAD TO TELL. I ASKED WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO THE OLD BUILDING NEXT DOOR ... HE SAID LONG AGO THE ROOF CAVED IN AND THE OWNERS DID NOT WANT TO SELL THE PROPERTY. I ASKED WHAT WAS INSIDE AND HE SAID THEY WERE HOARDERS AND IT WAS LOADED WITH WESTERN ANTIQUES, BOTTLES, SIGNS, ITEMS FROM THE TOWN AND NEARBY MINES. I TRIED MY BEST TO CONTACT AND FIND THE OWNERS TO SEE IF I COULD GET UNDER ALL THE DEBRIS. NO LUCK ... BUT THE BARTENDER DID OFFER TO SELL MY HIS BRUNSWICK BAR FOR $50.000 ... I THOUGHT HE WAS CRAZY UNTIL I RESEARCHED WHAT THOSE FAMOUS BARS WHERE WORTH. WELL IT WOULD'NT FIT IN MY RV ANYWAY. THE NEXT DAY WE WENT DOWN HIGHWAY 50 ALL THE WAY TO FALLON, THEN RENO. A MUST DO TRIP IF YOU CAN ... ENJOY THE PHOTOS ... THANKS RICH
