Rick:
The long-term solution to this is as follows: do NOT keep your chip list on word processing software. Word and WordPerfect are applications for storing text and not necessarily data. A list of casino chips would fall into the data category.
Although I don't know the size of your collection, I would say that the more chips that you own and the more information about each chip you would like to keep, the more this type of data lends itself to a DATABASE application (MSAccess or something similar).
If your collection is fairly small now, a spreadsheet (MSExcel or Lotus 1-2-3 for example) would be fine, and from there it is quite easy to import the information into a database. A database, however, is definitely the preferable application if you need to sort or print lists of sections of your chip collection. You can even add pictures of your chips!
If you manage to reconstruct your list, transfer the information to a spreadsheet. From there, I recommend that you import it into a database.
