I was going to post about this horrible weather and snow here. Some kids have not been in school for two weeks. I was going to post that with this bad weather there were no yard sales at all. But then I got my weekly email about an estate sale (run by a professional) and it was not that far away and I was bored today. So I went and got there only an hour after it opened. The first thing I found was several forks that they took out of a flatware set because they were "sterling". They wanted $10 each. One wasn't sterling and one was too small for the money but the third was good. Had $20 of silver in it. Also found a silver necklace for $3 that has $9 of silver in it. But the find of the day was a pair of cufflinks. In all of my years of looking I don't think I have ever found a pair or cufflinks that was worth anything. There must have been 20 pairs in the tray but one set caught my eye. A closer look at the back showed it to be 10K gold. What the guy did was to take two local High School class rings and somehow cut off the tops. They then soldered the 10K ring to the regular back to make a pair of cufflinks. They weigh 12 grams including the stones and plain metal backs but still a nice find for $3. Could be almost $100 in gold in them. The fun is in the hunt!
