I store most of my chip collection in Dansco albums - 2x2 style pages - 12 chips per page - 9 page per album - 108 chips max per album. I have about 500 of these Dansco albums. The albums are on custom made Redwood shelves that my son Damian, who is a cabinet maker made for me. The albums (about 120) shown below contain my Nevada Roulette chip collection.
As many of you know back in November I purchased a large collection of older Poker chips which were displayed in custom made Plexiglas holders in an antique 30 drawer Hamilton printers cabinet. I really love this cabinet and display. When this cabinet is fully loaded it will hold nearly 4000 chips.
I was running out of Dansco albums so I decided to purchase another cabinet to store some of my "non casino" chip collections i.e. Manufacturer's samples, advertising chips, UFCs. etc. By taking 1000s of non casino chips out of the Dansco albums, I would free up needed space in the remaining albums.
I saw a recent post by Jamison Pike showing a Library Card cabinet he purchased to house his chip collection. On Tuesday, on my way home from Atlantic City, I stopped and picked up the oak Card Cabinet shown below. The cabinet has 72 drawers and will hold over 10,000 chips depending on the type of storage boxes used. The cabinet will also hold a variety of other casino/gambling items.
The Library Card cabinet is very heavy - around 300 lbs. empty, so I bought some heavy duty casters and put them on the bottom of the cabinet.
I also have a couple of smaller storage cabinets which house my Harley Davidson chip collection. I just think these various cabinets make a nice looking display for some of my chips.
I also have a large safe to protect all my really valuable chips.
Take care,
Jerry
