The dice are used in "California Craps" to determine which cards to flip up to determine the dice roll.

"Gambling implements", other than cards, were banned decades ago that determine the outcome of a bet. So dice, roulette balls, etc are not allowed if they DIRECTLY determine the bet.

So..as lame as this sounds..card piles are dealt on the crap table..then dice are rolled..and the numbers on the dice determine which cards are flipped up to show the result of the "roll"..a 4 and a 3, for example. The red die referring to one and the green die, the other.

Like many antiquated gambling laws, this is lame, but unless the laws get changed that's what it is in California.

Card roulette is equally dumb too, but that is a story for another time..lol
