Michael,
I do understand where you are coming from and I agree to a point but not fully. I understand that the chips I have for trade do tend to be more common and a lot of people may already have them but it is still hard to believe that NOBODY needs any of them. I have also stated numerous times that I need a lot more than the chips I placed a wanted ad for including some of the new releases, franklin mint tokens, and Las Vegas Halloween chips which should all easily fit into the value range of my chips still with no reply. Also, I am tired of people insisting that their chips are worth "X" amount in a trade because the books say so when you can buy them on Ebay or somewhere else for 1/4 of that price. Chips are worth what someone is willing to pay and that's all.
When it comes to the point of saying that my wanted chips are better than what I'm trying to trade for them and more valuable that's not always true as well. I know that some of the chips I want are more valuable ($20-100 range?) but at the same time many of the chips that I am looking for have sold on Ebay for between $5 and $15 recently which really shouldn't be out of my trade value range (for example 2 Reel Deal $5 chips have sold on Ebay recently for $3.75 and $6.99). I have also never said that I am unwilling to trade more than 1 chip for something that I am looking for.
I know that everyone always talks about how cheap chips are now days and how all of the new collectors are so lucky and can get good deals but at the same time, most younger collectors don't have the money to spend. The whole reason that I am always looking to trade is because I don't have the spare cash to spend on chips. Trading chips is the main way I add chips to my collection but I guess I just need to come to terms with the fact very few people trade anymore.
Thanks everyone for the replies. Dan R-8220
