Hi Frank,
As an admin. I do take your question to heart but I really don't see a difference between the cover and the full book. The collectible part of any matchbook is the cover unless it is a feature or a print stick. It really comes down to personal preference, some say value. I'm not sure what difference it would make if the two were separated on the guide which is where I think your comment was going.
""Today's" ChipGuide administrators and their vision for today's ChipGuide"..........is to provide the most accurate information pertaining to the items contained therein. The flattened match cover provides a clear, square image that provides all the detail contained therein making it easier for the viewer, as well as the admins., to clearly see the variations between entries. The full books can sometimes miss those details that can separate one entry from another. Also note that a match cover or a chip that is in not so good of shape can sometimes be the ONLY representation that we have within our community of collectors. If a newer cleaner example is submitted we can always replace or upgrade that image.
Another point I have made here before is that when your collection is numbering in the thousands the flattened cover is ideal not only for ease of storage and display but safety. There is no way around the fact that the sulfur tipped sticks will eventually damage the cover, especially in the older books.
If this Tahoe Bowl were a full book or cover it would not make a difference to me or in my interest of acquiring it.
