And if you look at the other examples given in this thread such as the red BJ plastic chip, or chipcos merely stacked in a rack etc., the explanation is the same.
Those same chemical additives that cause the bleeding reaction are present in the plastic used to form the blank chipco and Bud Jones chips, so they will effectively suck the dye out of one another.
