I assume my name is in TGT because one of the original authors took the attribution off my website or price guide since I've never formally submitted to TGT.
That said, I have no personal knowledge of "The Chalet" from Kansas City. The attribution was made over 15 years ago from a researcher whose work I've questioned lately. I'm not saying I don't believe it, but it makes me wonder.
I did some poking around this morning and couldn't find a Chalet in Kansas City that had gambling. It certainly wasn't an extensive search so I certainly could have missed it.
If this chip was completely unknown to me and Gene asked for one of his "See if anything pops up for this" I would have started looking into a Billings, Montana, place called "The Chalet". It went bankrupt in 1975 and a local politician was being investigated for using campaign funds to buy the place, then using the bankrupcy to offset income for that year. The diasqr mold fits better in the northwest states (lots of CA, MT, OR and WA chips) and the chip condition looks in line with 1970s (at least mine does). I didn't see gambling mentioned, but again, I didn't really dig too hard. Even if I did find gambling I couldn't say for sure these chips belong there.
